Undergraduate International Program in Economics (UIPE)1. Program AimUndergraduate International Program in Economics (UIPE) is an English-taught program with a duration of 4 years, aiming to nurture future leaders to make an impact on the world by empowering knowledge, charismatic leadership and global competitiveness in a diverse and dynamic global economy. UIPE provides the student with a curriculum designed with the idea of gradually increasing depth in major education, liberal-art education throughout the four-year study, and rich oversea experiences. Literally, all students in this program are encouraged to study abroad for at least one semester. For students planning to go into industry and international organizations, interning abroad during summer or fall semester in senior academic year is encouraged; for the students planning to do PhD studies, more rigorous education on Math and economic theory and recommendation to top PhD programs by directors will be offered. 2. Credit and DegreeUIPE requires the completion of no fewer than 50 credits of General Education Courses (including General Education Core Courses and Specialized Education Courses), 28 credits of Basic Courses in General Discipline, 50 credits of Professional Core Courses (including 2 credits of Interim Report or Industrial Practice, 6 credits of Thesis), and Multiple Development Path Courses. For Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan students, UIPE requires the completion of no fewer than 137 credits, including no fewer than 27 credits of General Education Courses, 28 credits of Basic Courses in General Discipline, 50 credits of Professional Core courses (Interim Report or Industrial Practice, 6 credits of Thesis), and Multiple Development Path Courses. Bachelor in Economics will be granted to those who meet the requirements of the degree by Fudan University. The students will be exempted from taking the 'Ideological and Political Theory Course Module' (19 credits), 'Military Theory' (2 credits) and ' Military Skill' (2 credits), but they will take 4 credits of Sports courses. 3. CurriculumI. General Education Courses (50 credits)Study requirements: 19 credits for the ideological and political theory module, 10 credits for the seven modules (students should take no more than one course for each module, and avoid the economics courses from Module 4), and 21 credits of Sports, Military Theory, English and other special education courses. Students can also take the relevant module courses from the Fudan International Summer Session and overseas exchange programs to meet the credit requirements of the general education curriculum. International students please refer to the module courses requirements from the study plan. II. Basic Courses in General Discipline (28 credits)Ⅲ. Professional Core Courses (50credits)
①Advice on Interim Report/Industrial Practice： It is recommended that undergraduates in the program with an interest on further study can choose to complete the interim report to strengthen mathematics and economics theory education. Others with employment plans are advised to participate in industrial practice in overseas companies or international organizations around the world, with a focus on improving business-related skills. ② All the students are required to finish the thesis in English, and a Chinese abstract over 2,500 words will also be required. Ⅳ. Multi-development path course Multi-development path course includes different pathways such as taking Professional Advanced Courses, participating in Academic Minor Programs and other Courses. It is required to select one of the development paths under the guidance of the supervisor, and follow the guidance to take the courses. 1).Professional Advanced Courses (32 credits)The undergraduates who finished the professional advanced courses can apply for the exam-free postgraduate recommendation from the School of Economics, and the completion of professional advanced courses shall lead to an award of the degree from Fudan University.
2).Honor ProgramsPlease refer to the implementation plan of the School of Economics Honor Program for the curriculum setting and study requirements. 3).Cross-disciplinary ProgramsStudents must complete a minimum of 36 academic credits. In order to fulfill the course requirements, students must take 2 course packages not opened independently by their own major. 4）.Academic Minor Programs Students must take at least 15 credits of professional advanced course and a academic minor program offered by other schools in Fudan University. 5）.Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programs Students must complete a minimum of 36 academic credits. In order to fulfill the course requirements, students are required to complete an innovative and entrepreneurial course package offered by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute and a course package not opened independently by their own major. 6).Double Degree Programs with foreign partner universities The students who take the double degree program path are required to complete Basic Courses in General Discipline, General Education courses, Professional core courses, and a double degree program offered by a foreign partner university. The double degree program curriculum will be designated in accordance with the requirements in the collaboration agreement. Students who have completed the double-degree program and meet the requirements for graduation and degree awarding will receive a degree certificate from Fudan University and a degree certificate from a foreign partner university as well. Other Notes (1)Students must choose their course paths at the end of the 4th semester. Assessment corresponding to your selected path will be strictly given by graduation. For those who do not meet the requirements, the assessment will not be approved.(2)The academic credits for both sharing courses of major and multi-development are calculated only once. Students who choose or change the path should be approved by the advisor. |
